How do I bring an issue to
the City Council's attention? How
do I get on the agenda for City Council meetings? When and
where are City Council meetings?
There are at least three ways to bring something before Council: 1)
contact the City Manager's Office; 2) talk to one of your Council
members or the Mayor; or 3) appear before a City Council meeting.
The best way to bring an issue to Council's attention is to contact
the City Manager's Office (300 East Washington Street, Lexington,
Virginia 24450, (540) 462-3700, Fax: (540) 463-5310). The City
Manager or his Administrative Assistant will be able to place your
matter on the City Council agenda, or they may be able to assist
you in other ways as well.
The City Council agendas are prepared and distributed on Fridays
before meetings. Copies are provided to Council and the press. Please
see Calendars & Agendas for
more information. You may also contact the City Manager's Office
to receive a copy of the agenda ((540) 462-3700).
City Council meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each
month at 8:00 p.m. at the Rockbridge Regional Joint Court Facility,
150 South Main Street. At the beginning of each meeting, the
Mayor provides an open period for citizen comments on matters NOT
on the agenda. [back]
