    Recent copies of both the annual budget and the annual Comprehensive Financial Report are available for public review from the Finance Department webpage, at the Rockbridge Regional Library, the Lexington and the Rockbridge Area Tourism Development Office, and in the City Treasurer's Office at City Hall.  Additional copies are available from the Finance Department subject to a charge to cover the cost of printing the document.

  6. How do I bring an issue to the City Council's attention? How do I get on the agenda for City Council meetings? When and where are City Council meetings?

    There are at least three ways to bring something before Council:  1) contact the City Manager's Office; 2) talk to one of your Council members or the Mayor; or 3) appear before a City Council meeting.

    The best way to bring an issue to Council's attention is to contact the City Manager's Office (300 East Washington Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450, (540) 462-3700, Fax: (540) 463-5310).  The City Manager or his Administrative Assistant will be able to place your matter on the City Council agenda, or they may be able to assist you in other ways as well.  

    The City Council agendas are prepared and distributed on Fridays before meetings.  Copies are provided to Council and the press.  Please see Calendars & Agendas for more information.  You may also contact the City Manager's Office to receive a copy of the agenda ((540) 462-3700).

    City Council meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 8:00 p.m. at the Rockbridge Regional  Joint Court Facility, 150 South Main Street.  At the beginning of each meeting, the Mayor provides an open period for citizen comments on matters NOT on the agenda.  [back]

    All dogs must be registered.  Dog tags are renewed annually in January.  If your dog has been registered with the City, you should automatically receive information from the City regarding renewals.  The fee is $10.00 per year for all dogs, and proof of a current rabies vaccine is required.  There is a $10.00 late fee if tags are not purchased by January 31.[back]

  19. What are the general PARKING REGULATIONS?

    Parking in the downtown is generally for 2 hours unless marked otherwise.  There is no limitation on parking for residential streets, though cars must be moved at least once every 5 days.  

    Parking permits are available for City parking lots (non-exclusive leases in the McCrum's, Firehouse, Randolph Street lots) and some on-street areas (Hunting Pass Parking Program).
